The key structural components of leadership competence that are formed in the training process are identified, namely cognitive, value-motivational, behavioral and socio-communicative. It was established that the level of formation of individual components of leadership competence varies within 55-70%, which indicates a sufficient level of their development at the stage of initial training. Thus, more than 60% of respondents demonstrate a responsible attitude towards command activities and awareness of the role of a military leader, 70.6% are able to assess risks when making decisions, and about 60% note the development of psychological resilience and readiness to act in stressful conditions. The role of theoretical training in the formation of a conscious civic position, the development of responsibility and readiness to act in crisis and uncertain conditions is emphasized. Attention is focused on the need to integrate modern educational approaches focused on practical orientation, the development of critical thinking and adaptability of education seekers. The prospects for the transformation of basic combined-arms training in the context of the implementation of the educational component "Fundamentals of National Resistance" as a component of the formation of a comprehensively prepared citizen are outlined.
