The article describes the modeling method, its functions, types, steps of modeling. The requirements for building the practice focused models (inherently, simplicity, adequacy) are indicated. Defined applications’ aspects of the modeling method in the contextual training of the future lecturers (development the model of training; modeling the pedagogical situations; modeling the educational and professional environment, taking into account the substantive, psychological, spatial and temporal, social and communicative contexts; development the model of future lecturers’ readiness for self-organization in professional activities, etc.).
