Year of establishment: 1998.

"Journal of Zhytomyr State University" was founded in 1998, as there was an urgent need for a scientific journal of this type in the northern region of Ukraine. It was the specialized journal of pedagogical, philological, and later philosophical disciplines that was supposed to contribute to the development of science, the exchange of the latest achievements in the field of these sciences between scientists of Zhytomyr region and other areas of Ukraine.

The journal aimed to focus the attention of scientists on the most relevant areas of pedagogical science and its most urgent topical issues.

Modern science is rapidly developing, and scientists require the opportunity to express their opinions and attract the attention of their colleagues and the specialists of the relevant fields to the urgent scientific theoretical and practical problems. Insufficient publicity of science in Ukraine leads to the fact that significant scientific endeavors and groundbreaking research become known only to a narrow circle of professionals and do not receive proper informational support and distribution due to lack of funding. Our journal has been successfully assisting scientists in delivering their ideas to the wide audience for the past twenty-five years.

Today "Journal of Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University. Pedagogical Sciences" is a monumental scientific edition that allows monitoring the state of modern scientific research in the field of pedagogy in Ukraine and abroad.

Since 2019, the journal publishes the results of scientific research mainly in English.
