The article argues that humanities education is an important means of developing critical thinking, intercultural competence, ethical reflection and responsibility for the fate of humanity. The potential of history, philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, political science in providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand global challenges and processes, as well as to participate effectively in the life of the global society is considered.
The article analyses educational technologies and methodologies that contribute to the development of global awareness, including project-based learning, debates, international negotiation modelling, case studies, interactive forms of work, and involvement in international academic programmes and exchanges. The importance of integrating an interdisciplinary approach that allows students to form a systematic vision of complex global issues through the combination of knowledge from different fields of science is emphasised.
The results of the study reveal the urgent need to change traditional approaches to teaching humanities in higher education institutions.
